Samsung Reportedly Testing A New Galaxy A5 (2017) For Chinese Market

You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.

A couple of months ago, Samsung updated their Galaxy A series of smartphones with some new additions for 2017 like the Galaxy A5 (2017) and the Galaxy A7 (2017). If you have been following the news lately, then you probably already know that Samsung updates the Galaxy A Series every year. However, this time it looks like things are little different.

According to the new reports which we have, it looks like Samsung is going to launch yet another variant of the Galaxy A5 (2017). Yes, this is going to be different than the one which they launched earlier, meaning for the first time, Samsung is planning on doing this. However, this new variant is expected to be exclusive to the Chinese market, so if you live outside of China, then you probably have to import it.

Talking about this alleged new variant, it looks like it will be equipped with 6GB of RAM and it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. For those of you wondering about its name, it looks like it will be called Galaxy A5 Pro. The smartphone’s Geekbench listing says that it will be running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. Yes, this does sound like a huge improvement over the regular variant of the Galaxy A5 2017 which was launched earlier.

For comparison, the regular variant of the Galaxy A5 (2017) is powered by an Exynos 7880 processor and it packs only 3GB of RAM. In terms of the software, it was running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. Rumor has it that this new variant will also sport dual rear-cameras which will essentially make this the second smartphone from the company to pack a dual camera setup after the Galaxy Note 8. However, considering the fact that it is not a flagship, don’t have any huge expectations from this smartphone.

It is also worth noting that it has not been officially confirmed yet and these are the just initial set of rumors which we have. And in these cases, it is always advised that you take this with a pinch of salt. Having said that, you can check out the Geekbench listing of this alleged new device above. Meanwhile, you can let us know your thoughts on this. Would you be interested in buying this smartphone if it ever makes its way to India? Let us know by dropping a comment down below.
