Flash Plus 2 with 5.5″ Display & Helio P10 SoC Launched

TCL is the OEM manufacturer of the Alcatel branded devices that are more popular in the western countries. Now the company has launched a new smartphone called as Flash Plus 2, the successor for the Alcatel Flash Plus launched in 2015. The device comes with decent build quality and good mid-range specifications. It runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with customized skin overlaid.

The device features a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display with a pixel density of 401 ppi. Under the hood is the 1.8GHz Helio P10 octa-core processor along with Mali-T860 GPU. It will be available in two variants with 2GB and 3GB of RAM and 16GB and 32GB of internal storage respectively. The MicroSD card slot lets users to expand the storage additionally upto 128GB.

It comes with dual SIM dual Standby and supports 4G LTE. There is a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front camera with 84.4 degrees wide-angle lens and f/2.2 aperture. Both the cameras are accompanied by LED flash. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery which the company claims to give 15 hours of talk time and lasts upto 405 hours on standby.

The device also supports fast charging that can charge 3X times faster than conventional chargers. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a MicruUSB 2.0 port. The device comes with a physical home button on the front which also features a fingerprint sensor. It can unlock the device in just 0.5 seconds and can be used as shutter button in the camera app.

The Hi-Fi sound on this device is provided by AKM4375 Chipset and the NXP9890 Audio Amplifier. It measures 152.6 x 76.4 x 8.2 mm and weighs 157 grams. The device is priced at $160 for 2GB variant and $190 for 3GB variant. In the first phase, the device will be made available in Philippines, Malaysia, Monaco, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Flash Plus 2 comes in two colors – Silver and Gold.
