How Quickly Does a 4K Video Render on the OnePlus 3 with 6GB RAM

Today we are living in a smartphone revolution world, where with these mobile devices you can do anything you want on-the-go. You can enjoy a movie on them, play a graphic intense game that you used to earlier play on computers, edit your work documents quite conveniently. As well as do a lot of things. To test the limit of current generation flagship models, we did a test in which we tried to render the same 4K video on three different smartphones.

Though, the goal here is to find out how quickly does a 4K video render on the new OnePlus 3 smartphone with 6GB of RAM.

Note: We have used Adobe Premiere Clip Application on all the three devices to render the same sized 4K video.

What does rendering a video have to do with RAM & Processor?

Well in short everything depends on RAM and Processor. But let me explain you about it in some details. You see when rendering a video is talked about, it means that you’re putting together a film that you’ve shot with a camera. Then, importing it into a program adding effects, scenes and make the movie.

The final step would be to render the movie, where the system would build the actual movie file that you can upload online to YouTube, Facebook or any other website. Putting together all of the individual scenes, adding effects, sound mix, etc., is a processor intensive task and would take a time depending upon the processor and RAM combination on the devices.

OnePlus 3

Specs – 6GB of RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Quad-core Processor
Time to Render – 31 Seconds

Samsung Galaxy S7

Specs – 4GB of RAM, Exynos 8890 Octa-core Processor
Time to Render – 54 Seconds

Xiaomi Mi 5

Specs – 4GB of RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Quad-core Processor
Time to Render – 54 Seconds

Verdict

These three handsets had almost equal processing power if not higher or lesser than each other. The fact that winner here is the OnePlus 3, which took only 31 seconds to render a video against 54 seconds on both Samsung Galaxy S7 and Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphones. The only major difference in terms of the hardware was that OnePlus 3 sported 6GB of RAM against the 4GB of RAM on the respective Samsung and Xiaomi handsets. It clearly says that having an extra 2GB of RAM gives the OnePlus handset edge over others in terms of performance.
