Google Duo HD Video Calling App shows Preview before Accepting Calls
Along with AI-based messaging app Google Allo, the company also launched the video calling app called Google Duo. Just like Allo, Duo doesn’t need Google account; you can directly connect with another user with the mobile number. The one-to-one call video call uses very small bandwidth and works with both Android and iOS.
What makes the Duo standout from the other video calling apps is the end-to-end encryption and Knock Knock features that show live preview of the caller even before picking up. The app offers HD video (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and crisp audio. Both the Allo and Duo will be available within the next couple of months.
The app is about 5MB in size and shows the live preview from the front camera and circular contacts that can be swiped up from the bottom of the screen. It can also switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data without interrupting the ongoing video call. The user interface of Duo makes it better recommended than the Apple’s FaceTime that requires Apple ID.
