Earlier today, we have covered about the launch of Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus smartphones. Though we felt launching two devices as a surprise, the company indeed launched one more Moto G called Moto G4 Play. Unlike the Moto G4 and G4 Plus, the Moto G4 Play availability in India is unknown. It shares the same design as Moto G4 and G4 Plus but comes in a smaller form factor with cut down specifications.

The Moto G4 Play comes with a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) display with a pixel density of 294 ppi. Under the hood is the 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor along with Adreno 306 GPU. Last year’s Moto G3 also came with the same Snapdragon 410 chipset. It includes 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be further expanded via provided MicroSD card slot. The device runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with zero bloatware apps.

The nano coating on the device at least makes it splash proof. In the camera department, it sports an 8MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash that can record videos at 1080p resolution. For selfies, the Moto G4 Play packs a 5MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture and display flash that helps in capturing decent selfies even in dark light conditions. It is backed by a smaller 2,800mAh battery and also misses the Turbo Charging feature.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. The device comes with dual SIM dual standby and includes single stereo speaker placed on top of the display. It measures 144.4 x 72 x 9.9 mm and weighs 137 grams. The pricing of the device isn’t mentioned but comparing with the Moto G4 Play, which is priced at Rs. 13,499 for 2GB RAM variant, the Moto G4 Play may be priced around Rs. 9,000 price range.

Don’t forget there is also Moto G4 in between both these devices. It will be available in two colors – Black and White. Also, check out the specs comparison between Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus.
