Reliance’s LYF Water 5 with 2GB RAM & 13MP Camera Launched at Rs. 11,699

Today Reliance Jio had launched the invite program where a Reliance employee can refer ten other to get a Jio connection with unlimited 4G LTE data and voice calls free for three months. Though the offer can be redeemed when the consumer gets an LYF smartphone along with the free Jio SIM. In case you are looking get a new LYF device, the Flame 1 and Flame 2 are the entry-level devices priced around Rs. 6,000 price range.

But the devices lack the power to compete against the likes of other devices at this price range. The newly launched LYF Water 5 priced at Rs. 11,699 might be a better deal considering the specifications it offers. It comes with glass on front and back of the device with a metallic frame around it. The device comes with 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display with Dragontrail glass laid on top as protection.

It is powered by Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and coupled with Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The Water 5 has 16GB of internal storage and interestingly the company missed out the MicroSD card slot. It has 13MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, and a 5MP front camera. Both the cameras can record video at 1080p resolution. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box.

The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE on any one of the two slots. It is backed by a 2920mAh battery that is rated to deliver 15 hours of talk time and lasts upto 290 hours on standby. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, VoLTE, VoWiFi, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It measures 142 x 70.5 x 7.7 mm and weighs 136 grams.

The SAR values of the water 5 are 0.15W/KG at Head and 0.392W/KG at Body. As of now the device is available only in Black color and can be purchased exclusively through Amazon India. In case, if you are looking for the device with better specifications, then the LeEco Le 1S Eco can be a good alternative. The device comes wth one year of free Supertainment membership worth Rs. 4,900.
