RuggON Rugged Tablet PM-311B offers 850 nits Brightness & Fingerprint Reader

RuggON, the maker of the rugged devices, had announced a new rugged tablet called RuggON RuggPAD PM-311B. Unlike the usual tablets, the PM-311B comes in a bulk form factor and several rugged and encrypted features. It comes with a 7-inch display with WVGA (1024 x 600 pixels) resolution with Gorilla Glass protection on top. The display features 850 nits of brightness which makes it comfortable to use under direct sunlight, normally the best in class devices available in the market comes with 500-700 nits of brightness.

It is powered by Intel Celeron N2930 processor clocked at 1.83GHz and comes with 4GB and 8GB of RAM variants. The tablet includes 128GB and 256GB of storage, and the company is providing optional 128GB SSD storage with FIPS 140-2 Level II standard encryption. The company also offers a single SIM card slot with 4G LTE connectivity and also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. It also features two regular USB 3.0 ports and also a 32 pin docking connector for connecting other accessories.

The tablet is powered by the built-in 2,900mAh battery, and an additional swappable battery of 4,200mAh capacity can be added to it. It comfortable to use anywhere between -20℃ to +50℃ temperature and easily withstand the 5 feet drops. The tablet is also IP65 certification makes it waterproof and is also US Military (MIL 810G) certified. Unlike the usual fingerprint sensor on smartphones, the RuggPAD PM-311B comes with fingerprint reader with 508 dpi that can capture the accurate fingerprint.

With the additional modules, the tablet can scan the MRZ codes that are present on Passports, Driving Licenses and many other government IDs. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, GPS/GLONASS and Bluetooth 4.0. On the camera front, the tablet comes with an 8MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP fixed focus camera on the front. It will be showcased at the COMPUTEX 2016 held next week in Taiwan.
