ZTE Blade D2 Tips, Tricks, FAQs and Useful Options

ZTE Blade D2

The Chinese multinational company called as ZTE has been releasing many devices in the recent past and Blade D2 is one among them. The device comes with a 5 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MTK6735P processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM. This handset can also be used as a battery charger for other smartphones and will be competing with devices like Xiaomi Redmi 3 and Huawei Y6 Pro.

Followed are the tips and tricks of the device that will be useful in case if you are planning to buy this device shortly.

How can I insert SIM card on this device?

The back of the device is sealed hence the SIM card port is on the left edge of the device. Now to insert an SIM card, Open the tray by inserting the using the SIM ejector pin and place the SIM card(s) on the tray. Now put the tray back in the respective port and boot your device. You have successfully inserted SIM card on your device.

Which type of SIM is supported on this device?

Blade D2 is a dual SIM smartphone and supports dual Standby. The SIM cards supported by the device are one Nano sized SIM and one Micro SIM. Dual SIM support is becoming mandatory for every as they like to use two different number to keep their privacy.

Can I share my Data network via Tethering on the device?

To share a Data Network on your ZTE Blade D2 via Tethering, go to the settings of the device and tap on More option in wireless & networks. In the new window, tap on Tethering & portable hotspot and toggle the button adjacent to portable WLAN hotspot to enable that on your device. Now your device is ready to share data. You can change the Network SSID name and Password by tapping on Set up Wi-Fi Hotspot in the same menu.

Will the Blade D2 get Android Marshmallow 6.0 Update?

The device is running on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. The company has not provided information about the Android Marshmallow update but is likely to receive it very soon. You can also check the list of brands and device that would get the Android Marshmallow update soon.

How to take a Screenshot on my Blade D2?

Capturing a screenshot is as easy as it is on any other device. On this device and the captured screenshot is saved to the gallery on the device and for quick access of this, you can also open that from the notification panel on your device for the first time. In this method, you have to hold the power/lock button simultaneously along with the volume down button until you feel the vibration or hear a sound and the screenshot is captured. This captured screenshot can be shared via any application that supports it.

How to check for the Android Updates on the device?

Android updates are helpful to fix the minor bugs on the device. To check for updates on your device, tap on the System folder and click on Wireless updates. The device checks for updates and if there are no new updates on your device then “Your Phone Software version is Latest One” is displayed on the screen. If there is an update available the user needs to download the update and then install it, make sure the battery of the device is more than half before the installation process starts.

How to Install external apps with apk files on the device?

External apps can be installed by enabling the Unknown sources options on the device. To enable this on your Blade D2, Open the Settings and tap on Lock screen & Security in the personal section. In the new window, tap on unknown sources and click on the OK button enable this on your device. Now, you can install any apk file on your device but make sure that it won’t harm your device.

How to use the Power saving modes on the Blade D2?

To use the power saving mode on your device, open the Settings and tap on Power Management in the basic settings section. In the new window, tap on Power Manager, you can see the list of power saving mode. The device comes with Normal Mode, Power saving mode and extreme power saving mode. Now tap on the check box which is at the left side of the screen and click on Open button in the pop-up to enable power saving mode on your device. Power saving mode is a life saver when the charge on the device is very less, and you have an important call to attend.

What are the sensors available on the phone?

The fingerprint sensor, Direction, G-Sensor, Acceleration, Light, E-Compass, Proximity, Gyro, Linear acceleration and Rotation Vector are the sensors available on the device and helps in automating the device.

Are there LED notification lights on the device?

Yes, the device comes with LED notification lights on it and must be enabled on your device. To use the LED Lights on your device, Open the settings, tap on Brightness& display in the device section and click on Indicator light. You will find options like Calls, Messages, Notification, Charge and Low battery. Tap on the options for which you want to get an LED notification on your device.

How to use the Screen pinning feature on the Blade D2?

Blade D2 comes with Android 5.0 and does support the screen pinning feature. Now, open the settings and click on Lock screen & security. In the new window head over to screen pinning option and tap on it. Now toggle the off button to enable that on your device. Now open the recent menu and pin any of the application on your device by tapping on the pin button. To unpin your pinned screen, you need to press the back button for few seconds, and you have successfully unpinned from your device.

Can I Move apps from phone storage to SD card on this device?

There no such option using which you can move an app from internal storage to external SD Card on your device.

Can I remove the bloatware apps from the device?

Yes, the device comes with an option where you can uninstall the apps from your device. Not all the applications can be uninstalled, the applications which cannot be uninstalled can be disabled from your device. To uninstall an app, open the settings and tap on App in the device section and click on the app that you want to remove. In the app info window, click on the uninstall button, the app is successfully removed from your device.

How much free RAM is available on the device if no apps are running?

The device comes with a mere 1 GB of RAM out of which around 584 MB is available to the user when no applications are running. The remaining space will be taken by the operating system as well as the pre-installed and background applications.

Does the device support OTG?

Yes, the device does support OTG(On the Go) drive where you can exchange the data from your device to drive with ease. This saves a lot of time and makes sure that it is very easy to transfer the data.

What is the SAR Value of the device?

SAR value is helpful to know the effect of the radiation generated by your device. The SAR value of the device is still unknown, and we would be updating it when we get the complete information about it.

How to change the Theme on your device?

Can the device capture 4K videos?

No, the device cannot capture 4K videos with the 5 MP camera available on the rear. This feature can be found in most of the flagship devices only.

Can the memory be extended on this device?

Yes, the memory of the device can be extended up to a maximum of 64 GB which should be enough to store lots of data.

Will the device support NFC connectivity?

No, sadly this device does not support NFC (Near field communication). This feature lets the user transfer data fast and easily just by taping the other device that also has this NFC connectivity on it.

How much the internal storage on the Blade D2?

The device comes with an internal storage of 8 GB that can be further extended up to a maximum of 64 GB via microSD card slot. Around 4.2 GB of memory is available for the user and the rest will be occupied by the system OS and other pre-installed applications of the device.

How to reset Blade D2?

To reset the device, go to the settings of the device and select Backup and reset option. Before you start the resetting procedure, make sure you backup all the data that is important, and the battery on the device is more than 50%. This ensures that you do not lose any contacts or other important information.
