BLU Debuts UK Market by Launching Vivo 6 Smartphone Priced at £185

Earlier this month, the U.S based smartphone maker, BLU has officially launched its latest mid-range smartphone BLU Vivo 6 in the U.S for $200. With its affordable pricing, the company has gained a respectable market share in selected markets across the U.S, Latin America, and the Caribbean. BLU also sells their smartphones in few Asian and European markets. Now the company has officially debuted the UK market by launching the Vivo 6 smartphone. It is priced at £240 but is now retailing at just £185 on Amazon UK for a limited time. Talking about the device, it is the rebranded Gionee S6 Pro which is currently retailing in India at Rs. 23,999.
Apart from the change in logo, the device also runs on BLU’s customized UI instead of Gionee’s Amigo UI. It sports a 2.5D 5.5-inch IPS display with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood is the 64-bit MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The Vivo 6 packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded upto another 64GB via MicroSD card slot. As seen with the Gionee devices, BLU also injects a lot of bloatware apps into their devices. Coming to the camera department, there is a 13MP Sony IMX258 rear sensor with PDAF and f/2.0 aperture.
For selfies, there is an 8MP camera on the front with f/2.2 aperture. The wider home button on the front also houses fingerprint sensor which improves the security of the device. It is backed by a 3,130mAh non-removable battery that can give all-day lasting battery life. The Vivo 6 supports dual SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM slot where the user can either go with a secondary SIM or a MicroSD card. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and USB Type-C port. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and the company is said to be working on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update though there is no certain time frame mentioned.
It measures 153 × 75.26 × 7.6 mm and weighs 170 grams. The company is also offering free screen protector and TPU back case for free. Recently, the company is heavily hit by media after their devices are found with a malware sending the users data secretly to China. Most of the affordable smartphones from BLU are said to come with firmware that remotely installing apps and is collecting SMS, contact lists, call history and device information. Later the data is shared with the servers in China. The OTA update provider, Shanghai Adups Technology is later mentioned to have destroyed all the collected information and now no data is left from any of the BLU smartphones.
A total of 1,20,000 devices are expected to be affected with the malware firmware. Even, the Chinese popular smartphone maker, Xiaomi faced the similar problem when debuted the Indian market.
