You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Samsung, the leading smartphone maker in the world, has gone on a wrong path with Galaxy Note 7 battery explosions. Even after the Note 7 disaster, the buzz on their next grand launch event is nothing less, and we had even reported few rumored details about the upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphone. Though the company might still stick with the glossy back panel, there will be some design changes when compared with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Now the latest report claims the high-end variant of the GalaxY S8 & S8 Edge to sport 6GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. With the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus launch, Apple introduced the 256GB storage variant along with IP67 certification making them water and dust resistant. The latest iPhones also come with 32GB of storage for the base variant instead of 16GB as seen with the iPhones launched till last year.
Apart from the 256GB storage, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge will be launched in other smaller storage options as well. The Galaxy S8 might feature 6GB RAM, but it’s not the first smartphone to feature such a higher RAM capacity. Last month, the company launched the Galaxy C9 Pro exclusively in China with a whooping 6GB of RAM. As of now, only the OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T smartphones to be available globally with 6GB RAM. While the LeEco launched the Le Pro 3 with 6GB RAM, it is only limited to China and U.S markets. As seen with the Samsung’s flagship smartphones, the upcoming Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge will be also launched with both Snapdragon and Exynos processors. While the 10nm Snapdragon 835 SoC is almost confirmed for the Snapdragon powered variants, the other variant might feature Exynos 8895 SoC with Mali G71 GPU.
The Mali G71 is the same GPU that was used in the Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro smartphones powered by the latest Kirin 960 SoC. The Snapdragon 835 SoC is announced to be using Samsung’s advanced 10nm FinFET process. On the other hand, MediaTek Helio X30 and Huawei Kirin 970 SoC are said to be using TSMC’s 10nm process. The Galaxy S8 smartphone might become Samsung’s first smartphone to feature dual rear camera setup. While the LG and Huawei are already using dual cameras on the rear, Apple recently launched the iPhone 7 Plus with the same feature. LG even launched the LG V10 smartphone with dual front cameras. Based on the rumors, the Galaxy S8 might come with a bezel-less display offering almost 90% screen-to-body ratio. With the 6.4-inch edgeless display, the Xiaomi Mi MIX offered 91.3% screen-to-body ratio.
Samsung’s acquisition of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) company, Viv who also developed the Apple’s Siri hints about the introduction of AI feature on the upcoming flagship devices. Though Google came up with Google Assistant, it is made exclusive for their Pixel smartphones. Now, Samsung might even come with their own voice assistant named as Bixby And Kestra for the male and female versions. After the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, we expect the company to bounce back in 2017 with Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8 Edge launch. As of now, there is no official information regarding the launch date of the upcoming Samsung flagship devices, stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details in the coming days.
