Chinese VoD Provider iQIYI Launches its Latest Smartphone MiGe M9 Powered by SD820 SoC

Now in 2016, most of the technology enthusiast might have at least heard about LeEco, the Chinese technology company. Though the company is now diversified into different sectors like manufacturing EV Car, Smart TVs, Smartphones, and Smart Bikes. Apart from these, the company also has a ride-hailing service called Le Share in China and offers several other internet based services. Before jumping into hardware manufacturing, the company began as an online video company and is also known as ‘Netflix of China.’ It also has a production house called Le Vision Pictures and recently brought the largest TV maker in the U.S, Vizio for US$ 2 Billion.
Now one more Chinese video company, iQIYI has entered into the smartphone business. It was founded by Baidu which is the largest search engine in China. A couple of years before, iQIYI came up with its own production called iQIYI Motion Pictures to produce some original content on their website. Even the popular Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi is one of the stakeholders in iQIYI. As of 2016, it is the largest video-on-demand provider in China. Now the company has announced its latest smartphone MiGe M9 today in China. Earlier, the company also launched the MiGe M6, M7, M8 smartphones.
Talking about the new MiGe M9 smartphone, it comes with a regular bar shaped smartphone design and features high-end hardware without any gimmicky features. The iQIYI MiGe M9 sports an all-metal unibody design with rounded edges and comes in Gold and Rose Gold color options. It features a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display on the front with a 2.5D glass on top. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor clocked at 2.15GHz and coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. It packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There is no information about the availability of the MicroSD card for storage expansion.
On the camera front, there is a 16MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front camera for selfies. The device is kept powered on by a 3,100mAh battery that can give at least a day of usage. With the dedicated audio chip, the MiGe M9 offers Hi-Fi audio output. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G VoLTE connectivity. As seen with most of the Chinese smartphone manufacturers, the MiGE M9 also sports an oval shaped physical home button on the front which also houses the fingerprint sensor. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box with the customized UI laid on top.
The iQIYI MiGe M9 costs 1599 Yuan while the same device with VIP access to iQIYI’s video content is priced at 2699 Yuan. Earlier MiGe M8 also sports a unibody metal design but runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The device sports a 5.5-inch In-cell display with Full HD resolution. It is powered by 64-bit MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. The MiGe M8 includes 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD slot. There is a 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, and a 3,100mAh battery. It measures just 6.9 mm thickness and but feels a bit heavy by weighing 200 grams. Unlike the MiGe M9, the M8 sports the fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device.
