Xiaomi Mi 6 Smartphone Design Leaks in Prototype Images, Might Come with Helio X30 SoC
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
After failing to achieve its revised sales target in 2015, this year Xiaomi has been busy with several device launches. In 2016, the company has launched tw0 generations of Redmi devices. Even with several devices, the company still lost its strong grip over the Chinese market to the offline focused brands like OPPO and Vivo. Whereas, in its second main market, India; the company had made great sales of the popular Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 3S devices. It is now the fourth largest smartphone brand in India in terms of online sales. The company also introduced the Mi Air Purifier in India and the Android TV powered set-top box in the U.S. For the first time, Xiaomi also worked on to bring a concept phone called Mi MIX.
It sports several new features like ultrasonic proximity sensor, piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology virtual speaker, and a 6.4-inch edgeless display with 91.3% of screen-to-body ratio. While the new Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship smartphone will be launched in early 2017, now we got some early information about the device. The leaked images of the Mi 6 prototype reveals the curved back design as seen on Mi 5. While the Mi 5 came with glass and ceramic built variants, the recently launched Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus came with an all metal body. Looking at the unclear antenna band on the rear, we feel the Mi 6 to come with a metal body rather than glass which is more prone to damage.
There is big rear camera module which will be holding only one sensor along with LED flash. The Mi 5S is the first Xiaomi smartphone to use the Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensor where the sensor can be placed under the front panel. From the image, we can see the same physical home button as seen on Mi 5 and it might feature the regular fingerprint sensor. Since the company is already testing the Android 7.0 Nougat based MIUI 9 for Mi 5, the Mi 6 might run on the latest Android based MIUI out of the box. Instead of the recently announced Snapdragon 835 SoC, Xiaomi is rumored to use the MediaTek’s latest Helio X30 deca-core processor.
It will be available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants along with different storage options. With the Android Nougat out of the box, we expect the Mi 6 to support Google’s DayDream VR. Since this is too early to predict, take these details with a pinch of salt. Since the company has already confirmed that only one flagship variant will be launched by Xiaomi in India, the upcoming Mi 6 will bring some fresh air for the Mi fans in India. While the Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4 are already launched in India, the company is still selling the Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 3S in the Indian market. Today, Xiaomi also announced to unveil something new at the CES 2017 held in Las Vegas in the first week of January 2o17.
Unlike the earlier set-top box, this time the company might announce something for the U.S customers. As more and more leaks are expected in the coming weeks, stay tuned on Phone Radar for up to the date information.
