Leaks Suggest Xiaomi Mi 5C to Cost Just 999 Yuan, Might Launch in December
You are reading a story from PhoneRadar.
Last year, Xiaomi launched the Mi 4i as the affordable variant of the Mi 4 in the Indian market. For China, the company launched the Mi 4C with slightly improved specifications. Now, the company is rumored to launch the Mi 5C smartphone in China. Till date, the company had launched the Mi 5, Mi 5S, and Mi 5S Plus smartphones under the Mi series in 2016. The rumored Mi 5C is said to come with slightly less powerful specifications. If the leaked 999 Yuan price tag of Mi 5C turns out to be true, we won’t be complaining anything as the Mi 5 itself is still retailing at the 2X price of the rumored Mi 5C price.
Unlike the Mi 5, the Mi 5C comes with a metal body and looks sleeker with slightly curved edges on the rear. However, the physical home button that comes integrated with the fingerprint sensor can be found below the display Mi 5C. We expect the company to offer the 5.15-inch display as on the Mi 5 with Full HD resolution. According to the earlier leaks, the device might come powered by the recently announced MediaTek Helio P20 SoC. Even the renders of the same device are said to be of Mi 6. Though the company is already testing the MIUI 8 based on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat, we can expect the device to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
Last month, the company launched the Mi Note 2 and Mi MIX smartphones in China. As of now, both the devices are exclusive to the Chinese market. Xiaomi took everyone by surprise with the launch of concept smartphone Mi MIX which sports a huge 6.4-inch edgeless display. It is limited to the Full HD resolution with 17:9 aspect ratio, while the Mi Note 2 came with a 5.7-inch curved display with quad HD resolution. Both the devices are powered by the Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor clocked at 2.35GHz and coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. Though the Mi MIX is a concept device, its sales are limited to just 10,000 units per month. The complete ceramic body makes the production much harder for Xiaomi.
Though there are that Mi MIX Nano will be launched with a smaller 5.5-inch screen size, today the company officials had confirmed that to be a baseless rumor. Xiaomi is also looking to expand its market presence in the Western markets. The company has already launched the Mi Box Android TV powered set-top in the U.S. Amazfit, the ecosystem partner of Xiaomi launched the company’s first ever smartwatch Amazfit Pace priced at $129 during the pre-sale. At the upcoming CES 2017 that will be held in Las Vegas; Xiaomi has confirmed to unveil the all new global products. We expect to see Mijia range of consumer electronics and the Mi smartphones.
