We have already seen many leaks of the upcoming smartphone from Xiaomi called as Mi 5C which is code-named as Meri. Now another news as popped on the Chinese site called as Weibo which suggested that Xiaomi is planned to announce a new device on December 6th and it could be Xiaomi Mi 5C. There is no confirmation from any officials but this sibling of Mi 5 was expected to be launched in December.
Earlier: Recently, Xiaomi launched the flagship smartphones Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus in China. The devices will be the successors to Xiaomi Mi 5 that was launched at the MWC 2016 in February. Now the latest leaks suggest few details about the all new smartphone called Xiaomi Mi 5C which is codenamed Meri. Unlike the Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus, the Mi 5C lacks the premium specifications. It sports a metal build body with a 2.5D glass on the front. The top and bottom rear of the device is covered with plastic as seen on the metal build redmi devices like Redmi Note 3.
Unlike the Mi 5S, the Mi 5C doesn’t feature the ‘Under the Glass’ fingerprint sensor. It has the wide physical home button with two capacitive buttons on each side of it. The power button and the volume rocker can be seen on the right edge of the device. As of there is no official information about the Xiaomi Mi 5C (a.k.a Meri). It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 8. It includes 3GB of RAM & 64GB of internal storage, however, there is no information about the availability of the MicroSD card slot.
The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE and VoLTE for faster internet speeds. Last year, after launching the Mi 4, Xiaomi also launched the Mi 4i and Mi 4c smartphones for Indian and Chinese users respectively. But now, we aren’t expecting the Mi 5C to be made exclusive for China. Under the hood, the device is powered by an unknown octa-core processor clocked at 2.2Ghz. If the rumors are to be believed, it is the MediaTek Helio P20 octa-core processor built on 16nm FinFET process and comes with Mali T880 GPU.
Talking about the recently launched devices, the Mi 5S Plus comes with 13MP dual rear camera setup with RGB and MonoChrome sensors. On the other hand, the Mi 5S sports a single 12MP Sony IMX378 sensor with f/2.0 aperture. Both the devices are powered by the latest Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor. While the Mi 5S came with 5.15-inch Full HD Display, the Mi 5S Plus featured a slightly larger 5.7-inch Full HD Display. The devices also offer 4GB RAM, but the Mi 5S Plus also has a 6GB RAM variant with 128GB storage.
The Mi 5S is the world’s first smartphone to feature ‘under the glass’ fingerprint sensor that uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID biometrics technology. Both the devices are launched a week after LeEco Le Pro 3 launch. It came with a 5.5-inch Full HD Display and is also powered by the Snapdragon 821 SoC. The Le Pro 3 with 4GB RAM is priced at 1799 Yuan and is the most affordable Snapdragon 821 powered smartphone in the market. None of these smartphones are yet to be launched outside of China.
After launching the affordable Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime smartphones in India, two weeks back Xiaomi launched the Redmi 3S Plus smartphone exclusively for the offline market. It is priced at Rs. 9,499 and comes with almost same specifications as Redmi 3S priced at Rs. 6,999. The Redmi 3S Plus additionally comes with a fingerprint sensor on the rear.
