Meet Light Phone, A Phone which is just a Phone without the Smartphone Features

Over the course of time, we have seen a lot of smartphones or even regular feature phones with which you can get most of the work done. Talking about different types of smartphones, we have also seen a couple of them which cannot be exactly termed as a smartphone. Yes, there have been such bizarre innovations previously as well. And now on the same lines, this new Light Phone is something which takes the cake for being unique. Why unique? Well, this is not exactly a smartphone and not a feature phone also.

The light phone is just a small credit card sized mobile phone which designed to be used less frequently than a smartphone. Everyone these days are using their smartphone continuously, even when they could be doing a lot more work than that. If you are one of them who wants to stay away from your smartphone for reason then this is the one for you. The light phone is designed to be used as your second phone which will work like a seamless extension of your smartphone.

For more info, it is a stand alone 2G GSM phone that works independent of your current plan, but using our unique software platform it will keep your same phone number. Working with the light phone and getting started is yet another simple task. It can be controlled via an app which can be installed on your smartphone. But when you talk about the different features of the device, then let me inform you that they are limited to a very few. The features are limited to 10-speed dials and a time display.

The phone comes only in white and has a minimal design. It weighs only 38.5 grams and runs on Qualcomm 8208 SoC and has an OLED display on the front. The phone will accept Nano SIM, and the battery has a standby time of upto three days. As mentioned earlier, the whole purpose of the light phone is to keep you away from the smartphone but at the same time allow you to stay in touch with the people via calls so that you don’t miss out any emergency.

It works via an app on your smartphone with which all the calls will be forwarded to the light phone. The light phone will allow you to dial any number of maybe even call any of the 10-speed dial contacts which you have saved. You can also set details like whose calls will be forwarded, etc. With that being said, if you ask as for how this is differnet from using a regular feature phone, well this is the only phone which can manage the calls so seamlessly. It will work with both Android & iOS at the time of the launch of Windows and Blackberry OS support soon.

This 2G smartphone is not up for grabs yet. However, once it goes on sale, you will be able to pick it up for about $100 plus shipping and handling charges extra. Now the question is, will you be paying so much for this kind of feature or simply use Do not disturb mode on your smartphones. Well, that is something for you to decide.
