$20,000 Solarin Secure Phone to come with 5.5″ Display & Snapdragon 810 SoC

solarin secure phone specs

Few days back, we have covered about the Sirin Lab’s Solarin smartphone which will officially launch on May 17th. The device is expected to come with a price tag close to $20,000 (approx Rs. 13.3 lakhs) making it one of the costliest smartphones on earth. While the official pricing will be revealed on the launch day, we got some interesting information for you.

The Solarin is touted to be the most secure smartphone, but its specifications aren’t up to date. The listing on GFXbench revealed the device to run on year old Android 5.1.1 Lollipop while the Android 6.0 Marshmallow was launched with better security features. Even the most of the top brands are offering monthly security patches that are possible only with the devices running on Marshmallow.

It sports a 5.5-inch display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. Under the hood, the Solarin is powered by Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor clocked at 1.9GHz along with Adreno 430 GPU. The Snapdragon 810 chipset is the biggest failure for Qualcomm, and it even launched the powerful Snapdragon 820 chipset, but somehow Sirin Labs had still opted for Snapdragon 810 SoC for the world’s costliest smartphone.

The device includes 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. We don’t think the company will be offering  MicroSD since it is a secure phone. Talking about the camera, the device features a 23MP rear camera that can record videos at 4k resolution. We guess this to be the same sensor that was used in Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium. On the front is an 8MP sensor for selfies and video calls.

It supports single SIM and might come with a fingerprint sensor too. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth, and GPS. We aren’t sure whether the device sports a regular MicroUSB 2.0 or a USB Type-C port. As of now, there is no information about the security features offered along with the device. Since the official launch event is less than three weeks away, we expect more leaks in the coming days.

Stay tuned for latest updates!
