Acer has introduced a new device in the Liquid series dubbed as Acer Liquid Zest Plus that comes with a 5.5 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels resolutions giving a pixel density of 267 ppi. This device was unveiled at MWC earlier this year and is priced at Rs. 16,500 ($250). This handset is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM and Malli-T720MP2 GPU.

Followed are few tips and tricks of the same which will be helpful if you are purchasing the device or planning to get one.

How to insert the SIM card on your device?

Insertion of the SIM card is the very first thing that you do when you purchase a new device. To insert an SIM card on your device, power off your device and remove your battery and insert the SIM card into their respective slots. Now place the battery and boot your device. You have successfully inserted SIM card on your device, and it will be ready for use in some time.

What is the type of SIM supported on this device?

This device supports a micro SIM and is a single SIM variant. This modern world is so busy that they like to use two different numbers, one for office and other being personal, but sadly this device does not have this feature.

How to share your Data network via Tethering on the device?

Sharing of a Data Network on a device can be done using the tethering mode available on the device. To share a network on your ZEST PLUS, open the settings and tap on more in wireless & network. In the new window, tap on Tethering & portable hotspot and click on Wi-Fi hotspot. Now toggle the off button and enable that on your device. The device name and password can be set by tapping on Set up Wi-Fi hotspot in the same window.

How to take a Screenshot on my Acer Liquid ZEST PLUS?

Screenshot can be captured by pressing the volume button along with the power down button on your device. The screenshot is captured and saved to the gallery window on your device. The captured screenshot can be quickly accessed from the notification panel on your device.

How to check for the Android Updates on the device?

Android Updates help in fixing the minute bugs on the device, thus help in increasing the performance of the device. To check for Android Updates, open the settings and tap on About Phone in the system section. In the new window, tap on system updates, and click on check now in the pop-up. If a new update is available, then you can download and install it and make sure the battery on the device is more than 60%.

How to Install external apps with apk files on the device?

External apps can be installed if the Unknown sources option is enabled on your device. To install an app with an external apk, open the settings and tap on Security in the personal section. In the new window, tap on Unknown sources and click on the OK button in the pop-up to enable that on your device. How to customize the Quick Settings in the Notification Panel?

The quick settings in the notification panel can be customized on your device. To customize the options, tap on the edit icon adjacent to the settings cog in the notification panel. In the new window, drag the apps among themselves to arrange them. You can also add new app by tapping on the plus button and select the option by tapping on the checkbox and click OK. At max, you can add only 15 options and once the customization is finished click on the done button which is at the top right of the screen.

Power saving mode helps in improving the battery life in case of low battery conditions. To use this on your device, open the Settings and tap on the battery in the device section. In the new window, tap on three dotted buttons on the top right of the screen and tap on Battery saver. Now toggle the off button to enable that on your device.

The device comes with basic sensors like Acceleration, Gyroscope, Magnetic field, Orientation, and Proximity are the sensors available on the device and helps in automation your device.

Are there LED notification lights on the device?

Yes, the handset comes with LED notification lights on the front side which will be an indication when there is a missed notification and also indicates when the device is low on charge.

To unpin your pinned screen, you need to press the back button along with the overview button for 2-3 seconds.

The device comes with a lot of applications like Acer Aid Kit, Acer Portal, Acer SnapNote, Acer Tutorial, AcerEXTEND, Browser, File Manager, Kids Center, Liquid Select, Liquid Wizard and all the Google related apps pre-installed on the device.

Can I Move apps from phone storage to SD card on this device?

Yes, there is an option on the device using which you can move apps from internal storage to an external SD card on your device. To move an app, open the settings and tap on Apps in the device section. In the app manager window, head over to all apps section and click on the app that you want to move. Now in the app info window, tap on Move to SD card and the app is successfully moved from internal to external SD card on your device.

Can I remove the bloatware apps from the device?

Yes, the bloatware applications can be removed by uninstalling them from your device. The uninstalling of the apps can be done in two ways, i.e., uninstall from App Drawer and the other is general process from the App Manager window. Either of them can be used to remove the app from your device.

How much is the internal storage on the Acer Liquid ZEST PLUS?

The device comes with 16 GB as its internal storage and out of which only 11.46 GB of free space is available for the user and rest of space is occupied by pre-installed apps and OS on your device. There is also an external memory card option, where the user can extend the memory up to a maximum of 32 GB via microSD card slot.

How much free RAM is available on the device if no apps are running?

The device comes with 2 GB of RAM and out which around 966 MB is user available, and the rest is used by the system OS and other pre-installed applications.

Does the device support OTG?

Yes, the device supports the USB OTG, which makes in easy transferring of files from device to drive and vice-versa. This generally saves time and also is easy to carry whenever wanted.

What is the SAR Value of the device?

The radio wave exposure guidelines employ a unit of measurement known as Specific Absorption Rate(SAR). The SAR limit recommended by the International Commission on Non-ionizing radiation protection is 2 W/Kg averaged over the 10g tissue. The SAR value of this device is not yet known and will be updating as soon as we know it.

Will the Acer Liquid ZEST PLUS get Android Marshmallow 6.0 Update?

The device comes with Android 6.0 Lollipop out of the box. There is no information about the device getting the Android Marshmallow Update. What are quick touch gestures available on the device?

Acer Liquid ZEST PLUS comes with few screen-off gestures that are termed under the Quick Touch section on the device. To use them on your device, open the Settings and tap on Quick Touch in the device section. In the new window, toggle the off button to enable that on your device and also toggle the options that you want to use. The options available on the device are Swipe right for left page, Draw V for Call, Draw C for the camera, Draw I to unlock the camera, and draw Z to launch the music app on your device.

What is the battery capacity of the device?

The handset comes with a mammoth 5000 mAh battery that is non-removable, and its users will not face any battery problem as it will easily last an entire days charge with heavy usage also.
