Honor 5A with Kirin 620 SoC & 3,100mAh Battery Launched at 699 Yuan

As announced earlier, Honor launched its latest entry-level smartphone Honor 5A today in China. It is the fourth smartphone in the Honor 5 lineup; earlier the company had launched the Honor 5X, Honor 5X Plus and Honor 5C, while only the Honor 5X was made available in India. The Honor 5C was priced at 899 Yuan while the Honor 5C costs just 699 Yuan. It comes with an alloy frame with a polycarbonate body and the textured finish on the back offers extra grip to the device.

The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based highly customised EMUI 4.1 laid on top. It sports 5.5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is the Kirin 620 octa-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with Mali 450 GPU. It includes 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage that can be expandable additionally upto 128GB via MicroSD card slot. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE connectivity.

On the camera front, the Honor 5A features a 13MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. For selfies, there is an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture and features built-in beauty modes. Connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It is backed by a 3,100mAh battery which the company claims to give 28 hours of talk time and lasts upto 260 hours on standby.

It measures 154.3 x 77.1 x 8.45 mm and weighs 168 grams. The device will be available in White and Black colour options. The Honor 5A will be available for pre-order until June 16th, and sales start from June 17th in China. The Geekbench listing of the Honor 5A Plus revealed the same specifications as Honor 5A expect the processor. While the Honor 5A is powered by the Kirin 620 octa-core processor, the Honor 5A Plus will sport Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz.

Recently Honor also announced a virtual event of the launch of a new smartphone in Europe on June 20th. While there is any other information of the device that will be launched on that day, few rumours suggest the company to unveil the new flagship Honor 8 smartphone. Stay tuned for more updates!
