Huawei Launches the new Mate 9 & the Mate 9 Porsche Design Version Smartphones

Just about a year after the official announcement of the Mate 8 smartphone, Huawei has now finally launched the successor to it. Yes, Huawei has now officially launched the new Mate 9 smartphone, for which we have seeing a lot of rumors lately. Well, now that the smartphone is official, we don’t have to wait around to speculate about the specs or features anymore. And to our surprise, we have two different variants of the smartphone here and not just one.

Yes, the company launched two different variants of the smartphone today at the event which is the regular Mate 9 as well as the Mate 9 Porsche Design version. The only noticeable difference is in the design language of both the variants here and boy, and they spent a long time talking about the Porsche history here. Well, talking about the specs of the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Edition smartphone, it is powered by the Hisilicon Kirin 96- chipset which is the newest variant of the chipset from the company. Despite the thin size of the smartphone, it comes with a massive 4,000 mAh battery inside.

This special edition also comes with a 5.5″ AMOLED display on the front and has a curved front and back design, which makes it look very appealing. Do make a note that the back here in this edition is not glass but it is metal. It also has a fingerprint scanner on the front with smart gesture features. And now talking about the regular Mate 9 variant, it has a massive 5.9″ 1080P display on the front with 96% NTSC color gamut support and has a contrast ratio of 1500:1. It comes with 6GB of RAM out of the box along with an internal storage of 256GB.

The Mate 9 is powered by a Hisilicon Kirin 960 SoC along with Mali G71 GPU. And according to the company, it has faster benchmark scores than the Exynos 8890 and Snapdragon 821. On the software side of things, both the devices will be running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with custom EMUI 5.0 on top of it. The regular variant comes with 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage. And yes, even the regular variant comes with 4,000 mAh battery and both of them have USB Type-C port.

On the camera side of things, both of them sport dual rear camera setup with 20MP (monochrome) + 12MP (color) sensor with an aperture size of f/2.2 along with OIS as well. On the front as well both of them have an 8MP sensor with a f/1.9 aperture. Do make a note here that the Mate 9 smartphone also supports the Google’s Day Dream VR project.
