UMi Diamond Vs UMi Diamond X Smartphones Comparison

The Chinese Smartphone manufacturer UMi recently launched the new UMi Diamond X smartphone which is just another variant of the UMi Diamond which was launched some time back. Now talking about the specs of the device won’t make much of a sense here and hence to give you an idea as to which one to pick, let’s take a look at a comparison and decide which one is good and if you are to buy one, then which one would it be. Now do make a note that they also have some other smartphones which offer better specs and features than this, but these two are pretty much the most recent launches that we have seen from them.

Design

Talking about the design of the two smartphones here, both of them look pretty much the same. And by same, I mean literally same. This goes to show that the idea behind launching the UMi Diamond was not to launch another smartphone altogether but to come up with a variant of the existing one. Well, that is what they have done here, and hence we don’t have any difference in design. Well, if you were looking for some improvement in design, then you will be disappointed here.

However, the fact that the new one doesn’t have a new design doesn’t mean they look bad by any means. Should you be worried? Absolutely not! The UMi Diamond comes with a beautiful design by itself, and one should not have any issues whatsoever. As the name suggests, UMi Diamond is made to look classy like a piece of Diamond. It is made out of glass on both front and the back and has a metal on the sides. Other than just looking good, both of these smartphones are tough as well. Display

The UMi Diamond as well as the UMi Diamond X, both comes with a 5″ HD display on the front. The display is covered by a 2.5D glass which uses the appreciated Dual T2X-1 glass protection, allowing it to better resist accidental bumps and scratches. UMi says that the smartphone’s display is best in class and would be able to face hits and bumps in the best possible way and won’t give up. They had the goal of making it ”the Diamond among smartphones’ display screens,” able to resist to 1.2-1.5 meter drops 80% of the times, thanks to the patented Dual-glass T2x-1 technology.

Hardware

A comparison is obviously incomplete without a specs shootout. When you talk about the specs of the UMi Diamond smartphone, it comes with a 5″ HD display on the front. Even the UMi Diamond X smartphones come with the same display and hence we are not looking at any difference here whatsoever. The UMi Diamond is powered by an Octa-core 4G processor MT6753 clocked at 1.5 Ghz. The UMi Diamond X, on the other hand, is powered by a 64 Bit MediaTek MT6737 Quad-Core processor with a clocking speed of 1.3 GHz. The UMi Diamond comes with 3GB of RAM, whereas the Diamond x packs a GB less. However, both of them offer 16GB of internal storage out of the box, which can be expanded via a microSD card upto 128GB.

Coming over to camera front, both of them again have the same optics both on the front and back. At the back, there is an 8MP sensor, and on the front, we have a 2MP camera. Nothing fancy here, but at this price point, we can’t really argue much here. Also, both of them are kept powered by a 2,650 mAh battery and they also run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Well, now that you know everything about the specs and have an idea as to how much power they both pack, you should be able to decide on which one to get.

Verdict

The UMi Diamond and the UMi Diamond x, both of them are more or less quite similar. The only differences are the chipset and the amount of RAM. If it wasn’t for that, they could have simply launched the same UMi Diamond in two variants with less RAM. We have been seeing this trend of launching multiple smartphones with the same specs more or less, and most of them come from Samsung. However, in this case, since we don’t know exactly at what price the UMi Diamond x is going to retail for, we suggest you go ahead and pick the UMi Diamond which is already available in the market right now.

For that price, you cannot go wrong with the specs and is the sweet spot as far as the specs are concerned. In 2016 if you are planning to purchase a smartphone with less than 3GB of RAM, then in the near future, it might not be of much use, so it is always safe to go for the best one out there and in this case it is the Diamond.
