Asus Zenpad Z8 with Snapdragon 650 SoC & 4G LTE launched in US
Asus is pairing up with Verizon Wireless to launch it’s ZenPad Z8. On the lines of low-price affordable tablets, yet again Asus is launching this tablet on a small price bracket. This new device is priced at $249.99 (around 16,825 INR). The previously launched Zenpad S 8.0 was priced at $229. The new ZenPad Z8 is not significantly different from the previously released Zenpad S 8.0.
The newly launched Zenpad Z8 is powered by a Snapdragon 650 hexa-core 64-bit processor with 2 GB of RAM. It is coupled with 16 GB of onboard storage which is expandable via a microSD card upto 128 GB. It sports an 8-megapixel rear facing camera and a 2-megapixel front facing selfie shooter. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with ZenUI on top of it. It has a 7.9-inch display with a resolution of 2048 X 1536. The hardware also includes Dual front-facing stereo speakers with DTS-HD audio. Connectivity options in this tablet includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/b/g/n (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS + GLONASS. The new Zenpad Z8 comes in black color option and will be available to purchase through Verizon retail stores starting 23rd June. It will also be available on contract from the carrier for $10.41 per month for 24 months. As mentioned earlier, comparing the new ZenPad Z8 with specifications with the previously launched ZenPad 8.0, it doesn’t look like a huge upgrade. The predecessor also had similar specification. The only difference is the processor. The previous one featured a quad-core Moorefield Z3580 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. It is different in terms of the clock speed and the number of cores.
Asus also launched a variety of other tablets in the market in and around the same price point. If you are looking for a tablet for more professional use, then check out other options from the company. Asus Transformer Prime TF201 offers superior specifications, which is priced at about 38,000 INR. It has a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex A9 & Nvidia Tegra 3 and ULP GeForece GPU.
