Apple Hikes iPhone Prices by 29% in India after Poor iPhone SE Sales
In a very ironical move, Apple has actually increased the prices of their currently available models in India because of the lower number of sales of their recently launched iPhone SE. We have seen many brands failing in selling their products and this could be the first time, Apple has seen this kind of behavior in their Smartphones lineup.
According to ET, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 & iPhone 6S have received a price hike from 19% to a maximum of 29%. The brand has always seen to have been selling their phones at higher prices & the last year was probably the first time we had seen them selling devices whose pricing was at par with the pricing in the US. The iPhone 5S was one of the top selling devices in the last few months primarily because of the 18k pricing that could allow anyone to move to the iOS ecosystem who are on a tight budget.
There are some good news too if you are wondering. Apple had recently announced the Rs 999 lease program for Corporate Users that can availed by any company with 20+ users. Do make a note that you will have to give back the phone once you pass the 2 years time frame of this lease program.
On the sales note, Samsung is now selling twice the number of iPhone‘s that could be a major issue for Apple at the moment, though this could change depending on what Apple offers in the iPhone 7 and at what price they launch it. If you are looking to switch to an iPhone, we could recommend you to keep an eye on the price drops and also the cash back offers available through the Online eCommerce sites because that’s the only way you could save some money.
