Xiaomi Mi Max to be Powered by in-house Processor codenamed Rifle & MUI 8
Xiaomi has recently confirmed to launch a phablet with a screen size of whopping 6.4-inches. The device is said to be called as Xiaomi Mi Max, and there is no other official information about the device. After launching the devices under Redmi, Mi, Mi Note, Mi Pad series; now the Mi Max will be a separate series just for phablets. From the teaser image, we guess the device to sport a wider display than the normal smartphones.
Unlike the official teaser, the leaked image revealed even more information about the design. The Mi logo that can be found above the displays of Mi Note and Mi 5 is missing on the Mi Max. Apart from the missing front logo, the device looks similar to the Mi 5 with the wider physical home button and curved edges on the back. Earlier in 2015, Xiaomi is rumored to come up with their own processors.
Now a post on Weibo suggests the Mi Max will be the first device to sport in-house processor named Rifle. The processors will be developed in partnership with Beijing-based Datang Corporation. The Mi Max will run on Marshmallow based MIUI 8 out-of-the-box. If the device comes with some high-end specifications, then it can compete against the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 which is rumored to sport Snapdragon 823 processor and 6GB RAM.
Comparing the Q1 2016 results with the Q4 2015, the number of shipments are lowered by 12% and is limited to the third position in China. While we aren’t expecting Xiaomi to reach the top place but by the end of Q2 2016, it had good chances to be second largest smartphone brand which is now occupied by Lenovo. As seen with the TrendForce report for Q1 2016, Samsung and Apple are nowhere in the Top 5 list.
Stay tuned for more updates!
