Sony Xperia Z2 & Z3 series receives the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update
Sony had already started rolling out the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z5 Compact, and Xperia Z4 (a.k.s Xperia Z3+) smartphones. Apart from these smartphones, the Xperia Z4 Tablet also received the latest update. As the recently launched devices are updated, now the company is expanding the Marshmallow roll-out to other Xperia Z series devices.
The Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, and Xperia Z3 Compact are already included best testing of the Marshmallow update. Now almost all the earlier launched devices including the Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z2 3G, & Xperia Z2 Tablet are receiving the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. The update with the build number 23.5.A.0.570 comes in about 900MB size.
Below is the list of devices that have received the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update:
- Sony Xperia Z2 – D6502, D6503
- Sony Xperia Z3 – D6603, D6653, D6646
- Sony Xperia Z3 Dual – D6633
- Sony Xperia Z3 Compact – D5803, D5833
- Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet – SGP511, SGP512, SGP521
The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow updates for the above devices also include the February’s Android Security updates. It brings the enhanced privacy settings and app permissions. The Camera app has been updated for seamless switching between different modes with simple gestures. The Sony’s smart battery life along with built-in Doze mode brings battery life and power management.
If you are using one of the above mentioned devices and waiting for the OTA update, you can manually check the latest software update by opening Settings > About Phone/Tablet > Software Update. As of now, there is information about the OTA update for the Indian variant of the above mentioned devices. We can expect Sony to update all the variants in the next few weeks.
