Two Nexus Devices with Model Numbers M1 & S1 to be Built by HTC

Last month there are few rumors suggesting the upcoming Nexus devices to be built by HTC. In 2015, Google had launched two Nexus phones for the first time build by LG and Huawei. While the HTC is not new for making Nexus devices, the current flagship Nexus tablet, Nexus 9 is manufactured by HTC in 2014. Even the first Nexus smartphone, Nexus One launched in 2010 was built by HTC.

Though there are no official source backing, the rumors also confirmed that HTC has made an agreement with Google for manufacturing Nexus devices for the next three years. Now the reliable leakster, Evan Blass has tweeted revealing the device code of the upcoming 2016 Nexus smartphone. The two devices with the model numbers S1 and M1 are said to run on the latest Android N.

Android Police also added that the two devices will be codenamed as Marlin and Sailfish. While the Marlin can be confirmed, the Sailfish has been doubtful since there is an Android OS named sailfish. In January this year, another reliable leakster for HTC, LlabTooFeR had mentioned the T50 and T55 are the model numbers of the upcoming Nexus device.

We expect the T50 and T55 can relate to the display sizes of 5-inches and 5.5-inches. Since Android N is said to support 3D Touch, we guess these two Nexus device to feature pressure sensitive displays. As seen with 2015 launched Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X, one of the upcoming Nexus M1 and S1 might sport flagship specs while other will be settled for mid-range specs.

Unlike the recent trend of 6GB RAM smartphones, Google might settle with 4GB RAM for the high-end device. Even the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 is also rumored to feature 6GB of RAM. We can also expect to the two devices to be powered by Snapdragon processor. HTC had recently launched its flagship HTC 10 powered by Snapdragon 820 processor and an affordable variant with Snapdragon 652 processor.

Since there are months for the official launch, we can expect changes in the final devices. Stay tuned for more updates!
