India bans Import of Chinese Mobile Phones without IMEI & Security Features
After all the glory of the Chinese smartphones in India, now we are going to miss some of them after the recent announcement made by Government of India in Parliment. Few years back, the Made in China products are considered to be of low quality but with the passing times, the quality of the products is raised, and the majority of the smartphones are manufactured in China.
Though there will not be major impact over the mobile market, since the devices without IMEI number and proper security features will be banned from importing in India. Recently Chinese-based telecom equipment manufacturer ZTE is banned from using the U.S technology. All this came under the scanner after ZTE products are found exporting to Iran.
Even the popular Xiaomi products are banned by Indian Air Force in 2014 after its devices are found remotely sending data to China-based servers. After this issue, the company had moved few servers outside of China, and the information from Indian Xiaomi device are stored there. With the slowing smartphone penetration in China, the Chinese companies are looking Indian as the second biggest market.
For the period between April 2016 to February 2016, the total bilateral trade between India and China is worth of $65.16 billion while the India’s trade deficit is $48.68 billion for the same period.
