Download Latest Software Update
Every device manufacturer releases few software updates for its phones for smooth functionality of the phone by fixing the errors. So, all the M8 users should check for the software update on their device under the ‘Settings>About Phone’, and if there is any update available, then you will be notified of the same. Now, download and install the new update using WiFi connection as the file size will be large. Once done, you will be having newly added features on the phone along with the improvement in the device performance.
Disable Animations
Another easy option to gear up your device is by disabling or reducing the animations in the phone. You can do this by enabling the developer options in the phone. Open, ‘Settings>AboutPhone’, and tap few times on the ‘Build number’ option until it enables the developer options. Once the options are enabled, you can see them under the ‘Settings>More.’
Scroll down the options and find ‘Advanced’ option where you need to tap on that to access the animation settings. Now, change all the animation settings to 0.5X or disable them completely to speed up the device. The difference in the performance can be felt right after changing the settings, and you can revert to the old settings by reversing the process.
Enable ART/Android RunTime
After the release of KitKat version, Android started using (experimental) ART for faster runtime instead old Dalvik runtime. ART makes the device faster by its processing technique and at the same time, it has its drawbacks like some apps may not function properly when ART is enabled. So, if you want to try this, then you can proceed further.
Open the ‘Developer Options’ from the settings as explained in the above method and tap on ‘Select runtime.’ In here, you need to enable the ART, and if you find any malfunctioning of any other apps, then you can change the option to Dalvik runtime at any moment.
Disable Widgets and Live Wallpapers
Widgets always perform its work well and helps the user in various ways. But, the deal is that it eats away the processor while functioning and has an adverse affect on the performance of the device. So, we advise you to remove all the widgets from the phone and in worst case try using only one or two so that you cannot have much effect on the phone.
On the other hand, Live Wallpapers also enhance the look of the phone but causes the functionality issues. So, we advise you to remove live wallpapers and try normal wallpapers which are beautiful. You can see the difference in the functionality of the phone by yourself once you disable the widgets and live wallpapers.
Uninstall Apps and Clear Cache
You might have seen some pre-installed apps on your new M8 device, and you may have felt that few are useless among them. So, whatever you feel is unnecessary, start uninstalling them from your device, few of which will be bloatware apps which cause the over-heating and performance issues. Get rid of all such apps from the device and keep safe.
Check the apps which are installed by you from the play store, as you will find several unnecessary apps. So, check your downloaded apps list properly and remove all the useless apps from the device. Also, remember that every time you open a specific app, some of the cache gets stored in the background, and you need to clear it to save the storage space as well as to improve the device performance. So, open each app in the ‘App Manager’ and tap on ‘Clear Cache’ so that you can remove the cache stored in the apps.
Wipe Cache Partition and Factory Reset
To perform this task, you need to turn off your device and should enter into the recovery mode. Usually, this can be done by holding Volume Down button along with the power button at the same time. Once the phone is in recovery mode, use the volume buttons for navigation and power button for confirming the selection. Now, select and confirm the ‘Wipe Cache partition’ and once the process is done, go for ‘Reboot system Now.’ It will clear all the cache from the phone, and you will be having better performance using the phone.
If you fail to improve the performance of the phone using all the above steps, then you can try the factory reset as a last option. This method will erase everything from your device thus making it a brand new one and so take the back up of data before performing this task. You can factory reset the phone using recovery mode as explained above, where you need to select and confirm ‘Wipe data/factory reset’ after that ‘Reboot system Now.’ Otherwise, simply open ‘Settings>More>Backup & Reset>Reset phone’, and that’s all, the process will be completed in few seconds.
Few Additional Tips
Other than the above methods, if you take few precautionary measures, you can easily gear up the performance of the device. Always turn off the connections like WiFi and Bluetooth and turn them on only when they are in use. Never set auto adjustments for rotation or brightness as you can adjust them manually for better performance.
