Huawei P9 Lite with Kirin 650 SoC is now Official, Lacks the Dual Rear Camera Setup

While rumors suggested Huawei to launch its latest P9 series in four different variants, but at yesterday’s event, the company came up with just two variants called as Huawei P9 and P9 Plus. Today in China & Russia, Huawei announced a low-cost Huawei P9 Lite with cut-down specifications. Importantly this new device lacks the dual rear camera setup which can be found on Huawei P9 & P9 Plus.

Apart from the missing black strip for the rear camera, the P9 Lite sports similar design as the earlier launched P9 devices. It comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and comes powered by in-house Kirin 650 SoC. The rumored Huawei 5C is also said to be powered by the same Kirin 650 SoC. It comes in 2GB and 3GB RAM variants with 16GB of expandable storage option.

Talking about the camera, the P9 Lite features a 13MP rear camera with dual tone LED flash and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. The device is backed by a 3,000mAh that can last more than a day of mixed usage. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based latest EMUI 4.1 laid on top. The fingerprint sensor can be found on the rear of the device for unlocking and capturing images. It supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE.

Connectivity on this device includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, USB Type-C port along with 4G LTE. The device will be available in both Gold & Silver color options. As of now there is information regarding the pricing of the device. The P9 Lite will be available starting from July 2016 in Russia while in China. The LG G5 Lite powered by Snapdragon 652 was unofficially confirmed recently.

Even HTC that will launch its latest flagship HTC 10 is rumored to unveil the Mini variant powered by the Snapdragon 652 SoC. The HTC powered by Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor will be launched on April 12th at the event that will be held in London, New York, and Taipei. Stay tuned for more updates!
