LG G3 is Slow? How to Speed up for Better Performance in 5 Minutes
The smartphone industry has been in rapid increase regarding sales and marketing. After Android OS has introduced, almost all the manufacturers are launching the devices which are powered with the Android OS. Same is the case with LG, which has been in the smartphone market since few years and is launching a wide variety of phones into the market.
We are here to discuss few speed-up tips for LG G3 using which you can gear up the device for better performance just in 5 minutes. We have seen LG G2 and LG G4 smartphones before and after the LG G3, which are doing good business in the market. As some Android devices get lag in performance after few months of usage, same is the deal with LG G3. So, follow the methods which are given below and boost up your device.
- Download Latest Software
- Disable Animations
- Uninstall Apps
- Disable Widgets
- Remove Cache
- Factory Reset
- Few Other Tips
Check for Software Update
As we have seen that, this device comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor out of the box and with 2 GB and 3 GB RAM versions. But anyhow, few users reported that they have issues with the performance of the phone and so first in the case, you all need to do is check for any official software update. Usually, the OTA updates which are released by the manufacturers contain fixes for the minor bugs and also few enhancements for improving the device.
You can check for the updates using a special feature ‘Update center’ which can be found under folder utilities in the device. So, tap on the Phone version upgrade and if you find any latest update, then download and install it on the device (Use WiFi connection when downloading as the files are large). Once done with the upgrading process, you will be having a smoother performance of the device.
Disable/Reduce Animations
A quick way to speed up the functionality of your device is by reducing or disabling the animation settings on your phone. You can do this by enabling the ‘Developer Options’ on your phone, and this can be done by tapping several times on the ‘Build number’ under ‘Settings>About Phone’. Once the options are enabled you can check the same under ‘Settings>More(Additional)’.
Scroll down the developer options, until you find the animation settings where by default it will be set to 1x. So, disable those options or reduce them to 0.5X for better performance of the device. Once the changes are done, you can experience the faster performance, and you can also revert to old settings at any time.
Uninstall Pre-installed Apps
You can find few apps on your device when taken out of the box. You might wonder how all these apps get installed on the phone. All these apps are known to be pre-installed apps and some of which will be bloatware too. Bloatware apps cause the performance issue by over-heating the phone and by draining the battery. So, all you need to do is to uninstall all such apps from the device and keep the phone safe.
Also, you might have downloaded several apps from the play store out of which few will be unnecessary. So, we advise you to check all the apps in your device and remove the apps which are not at all useful for you. By doing this, you can free the storage space on the device and at the same time, you can help in improving the device performance.
Disable Widgets and Live Wallpapers
Widgets and Live Wallpapers will eat away the processor resulting in slower performance of the phone. So we strongly advise you not to use the widgets and if at all you need them, then just use one or two widgets and disable remaining. Also, instead of using live wallpapers, it is advisable to use normal wallpapers which enhance the screen beauty. So, by following these simple precautions, you can gear up the phone’s performance to certain extent.
Remove App Cache and Wipe Cache Partition
Another reason for the lag in the performance of the device is cache which gets stored in the background whenever you perform a certain task using an app or any other feature. So, you need to clear the app caches whenever possible, and that can be done easily. Open each app from the ‘App Manager’ and tap on ‘Clear Cache’ to wipe away the cache from apps.
Other than app cache, you also need to clear the cache from the device, and this can be done in the recovery mode of your device. Usually, recovery mode can be entered by turning off your phone and next by holding the power and volume down button simultaneously at the same time. Release the keys when you see LG logo on the screen and then again press and hold the power and volume down keys until you get into recovery mode. In the recovery mode, you need to use volume buttons for scrolling up and down, and power button for confirming the selection. So, now select and confirm, ’Wipe Cache Partition’ and once the process is done go for ‘Reboot System Now’ and confirm it. That’s all; now you can see much more available space on your device and also the improvement in the functionality of the phone.
Factory Reset
If you fail to speed up the phone using the above methods and if you are still facing the lag in device performance, then you need to perform the factory reset. To perform this task, take back up of all the data present in the phone as it will erase everything from the device. Now, you need to get into the recovery mode as explained above, where you have to select and confirm the ‘Wipe data/factory reset’. Once the process is done, select and confirm, ’Reboot system Now’ and that’s all, the phone gets restarted, and you will have a brand new device in your hands.
Few Additional Tips
Other than the above, we found few other precautions which when followed will gear up the device to a certain extent. Do turn off the WiFi and Bluetooth connections on your device whenever you have no use of them. Also, try to adjust the rotation and brightness of the screen manually instead of enabling auto settings. Another important thing to remember is not to perform multi-tasking on the phone, i.e., do not open various apps at the same time, as it may hang the phone. Always use original chargers for device charging and avoid using duplicated chargers. Never turn on the data connection in poor network areas until and unless it is necessary as it may drain the battery faster than usual.
